Kathelijne van Kammen (Deputy Director of the Netherlands Police Academy) and Martijn Braber (Director of Saxion Parttime School) sign a cooperation agreement

Saxion University of Applied Sciences and the Netherlands Police Academy have taken a further step in their collaboration. Kathelijne van Kammen (Deputy Director of the Netherlands Police Academy) and Martijn Braber (Director of Saxion Parttime School) have signed an agreement for collaboration in education.

Many links have already grown up between the two parties over recent years, both in the area of practice-oriented research and in relation to examination boards. And the two are partners in the Centre for Security and Digitalisation (CVD). Now the collaboration will also take on firmer contours in the area of teaching and education.

General management courses

This collaboration relates to the new bachelor’s degree programmes of the Higher Police Education sector (Hoger Politie Onderwijs, HPO). For instance, lecturers from Saxion will provide general management courses at the Police Academy’s Apeldoorn campus. These courses form the basis for police-specific topics in the degree programmes, such as the policy and practice of Human Resource Management (HRM) within the police organisation.

In addition, the Police Academy is buying in modules for students who have already obtained another bachelor’s degree, but want to ‘freshen up’ certain parts of their previous degree programme. In this way, these students can obtain an exemption for certain modules of the Criminal Investigator or Police Leader bachelor’s programmes.

Fresh perspectives

Kathelijne van Kammen comments that she is very happy about the signing of this agreement. ‘We are looking forward to fruitful collaboration. And to the positive consequences this will have for our degree programmes and for the development of our police students. This will give our own lecturers more space to focus on police-specific education. And even more importantly, collaboration with Saxion will lead to fresh perspectives on the subject matter.'

The agreement takes effect immediately.
