The Executive Board of the Netherlands Police Academy has dismissed an employee of the Academy for dereliction of duty. This employee had, despite repeated warnings, made frequent unlawful use of police resources. The Netherlands Police Academy’s Security, Integrity, and Complaints Department (VIK) investigated the matter after receiving various reports.

Leonard Kok, Director of the Netherlands Police Academy, commented: ‘Integrity is one of the core values of the Netherlands Police. We have standards and agreements, and we uphold them. We serve as role models, and this also applies to the Netherlands Police Academy. If our standards are breached, we take appropriate steps. Every report of dereliction of duty is carefully investigated and offenders are punished if necessary, as occurred in this specific case.’
